Heads up

  • Cable cars to Sass Pordoi, Seceda and Cinque Torri, plus mountain huts like Rifugio Emilio Comici and Rifugio Auronzo, run on seasonal schedules; check opening dates before you go.
  • The Tre Cime toll road to Rifugio Auronzo and the Braies car park have seasonal closures, access rules or booking requirements; confirm current access in advance.
  • High passes such as Sella, Pordoi and Giau can get snow and ice quickly; check road conditions, carry winter equipment where required, and avoid driving the passes after dark.
  • Many South Tyrol old towns limit car access; park outside the centers of Bolzano, Brunico and Cortina.
